January 2006 The CFN are gearing up for the new year with a number of initiatives and projects. Development is underway for Born of Hope and final post production is taking place on Version 0.9, Into the Darkness and Black Box.
New to the CFN this year is the Writer's Group. Tim, a recent graduate of the MA in Screenwriting at the London College of Printing will be running this scheme for all those wishing to develop their writing skills. One to one script development sessions can be arranged with Tim (via 'timothy pickett 72 at hotmail dotcom'), which can then be followed by a group workshop if desired. This will allow scripts to reach their full potential before reaching production stage and is an initiative open to all our writers, regardless of experience. We aim to drive this group partly through entry to screenwriting competitions.
2005 was a highly productive year so here's to an equally productive 2006!

April 2004 The CFN hosted Bright Young Things event on the 19th April was a resounding success, with tickets selling out in 3 days! Director Stephen Fry and producer Gina Carter spoke frankly about the making of the film covering aspects such as raising the finance, casting of unknown actors and the difficulties that they had to overcome. They also entertained the audience with anecdotes and I am sure that no one will forget the Peter O Toole story for a long time!
CFN members had the opportunity to talk with both Stephen and Gina in the bar after the event along with Laurie Heywood CEO of Screen East and chair of the event Atlantic Film Group producer Alan Harris.
The event was made possible with the support of the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse and Screen East and we hope it will be the first of many!

October 2003 The official launch of the new Cambridge Filmmakers Network! We have several plans for development, such as creating links with Cambridge University and APU film students as well as the many sixth form college films students, to enable us to expand the educational aspect of the network.
We have a link with a sister network in Sheffield and a Birmingham Filmmakers Network is to be launched later in the year, which will allow us to contact and collaborate with filmmakers across the country.
